She went on stage an unknown and walked off a phenomenon and has been performing, writing and touring the world ever since releasing over 40 CDs worldwide with hit songs including "Brand New Key", "Candles in the Rain" and "Look what they're done to my song, Ma" winning an Emmy for the theme song for "Beauty and the Beast"
Her songs have been covered by artists from Ray Charles to Nana Mouskouri, Joe Pass, The Dolly Rots, Peggy Lee, Cher, Barbara Streisand, Meredith Brooks and Queen Latifah and many more.
In 2008 Melanie received an honorary ambassador of peace award from the Korean govt. for a life time supporting humanitarian causes including a world tour for UNICEF with peace songs like " Beautiful people", "Peace will come" and "Ring the living Bell"
She has the unique distinction of being the first performer ever to sing solo @ the UN general assembly AND the New York Metropolitan Opera, Sydney Opera House and The Royal Albert Hall.
Currently Melanie is working on a new album with her son the concert guitarist and producer Beau Jarred Schekeryk and a one woman show with all original music and establishing the International Singer Songwriter Hall of Fame
She is preparing for another sold out tour of the UK. She will also be commemorating the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, performing selected venues around the world.
